The bright yellow sun was just peeking over the mountains in Scaredyville. One of the residents, Little Miss Scared, just woke up and jumped so hard she nearly fell out of her bed. The sound of the bell of a bike going by her house had startled her. She cautiously placed her little feet in her slippers by her bed and carefully inspected the floor, making sure there wasn’t anything dangerous. As she went down her stairs, she grasped the railing so tightly that it left a dent. She would always walk around town nervously glancing around, petrified about every little thing she laid her weary eyes on.
Little Miss Scared worked at a place right on the edge of Scaredyville. The little place was called Shivers Shrieks and Screams Skydiving. Little Miss Scared would help very courageous people skydive. She would soar up into the sky in a miniscule airplane, strap parachutes on the customers, and then she would watch them fly out of the plane high up in the sky without even a sliver of fear. Little Miss Scared would never dare to try skydiving.
Little Miss Scared would walk home from work everyday nervously glancing from left to right. When she got home, she would always make herself a cup of iced-tea (she would never drink it hot, she was terrified she would burn herself), walks up her stairs not even thinking about letting go of the railing, she puts her slippers on and makes sure she doesn’t step on anything dangerous, and very cautiously gets into her bed.
One day, Little Miss Scared continued with her morning routine feeling a little less scared than she did the day before. She walked across town glancing from side to side, and headed off to work. She met one of her customers before they took off in the plane. The customer’s name was Little Miss Brave.
Little Miss Brave and Little Miss Scared got onto the plane together and it took off. The two girls talked the whole way until it was time for Little Miss Brave to jump. Little Miss Scared strapped the parachute to her new friend and was about to wave goodbye when Little Miss Brave made a comment, “Where’s your parachute, Little Miss Scared?”
Little Miss Scared didn’t know what to say. She didn’t want to make her little friend feel bad. Before she let the truth escape her quivering lips, Little Miss brave knew what was going on just by glancing at the expression on her clammy face.
“Don’t be silly! I’ll make sure to keep you safe!” exclaimed Little Miss Brave.
“I… I don’t know about…”
Before Little Miss Scared could finish her sentence, she realized she had a parachute fastened on her back. Little Miss Brave latched her arm around Little Miss Scared’s. Before Little Miss Scared knew it, she was sailing through the bright blue cloudless sky.
After a few moments of floating weightlessly through the sky, Little Miss Scared’s parachute opened and she and Little Miss Brave landed like tiny little feathers on the soft ground. As soon as Little Miss Scared’s feet touched the ground, she had an ear-to-ear grin stained across her face. She thanked Little Miss Brave for everything she had done. The grin still didn’t disappear until Little Miss Scared got home. That night, she only drank her iced-tea, but did everything else just as if her name was Little Miss Courageous.
